Gazetted Officers List:- Gazetted Officer is a high rank public servant or an officer whose appointment or promotion is recorded in official government or state gazette. A gazetted officer has authority to issue an official stamp. If a person's name is published in gazette of India or any state government gazette, he/she is considered as gazetted officer. The gazette of India and state gazettes are official government publications, which publish appointments or promotions of certain government officials along with other government notifications on yearly basis.

An officer, who is appointed by the President of India at national level or by Governor at the state level, and listed in the gazette of India or state gazette, is considered as gazetted officer. The persons who are employed with government of India (either central or state) are regarded as gazetted officers whose signature and the stamp are valid for attestation and verification of documents.

Gazetted Officers List 2024 as per Gazette of India

A gazetted officer has a name stamp of his own to attest documents ,and to sign papers of office work. This stamp is provide by President of India or the Governor of a state. For various purpose, we need attestation of documents by a gazetted officer, we often get confused who comes under gazetted office list, who should we approached for documents verification and attestation.

As per guideline issued by government, self-attestation is sufficient for exam forms, admit cards and other documents. But some exam conducting bodies still ask for photo attestation of admit card from gazetted officer and attested documents at the time of document verification. Whether It is duty of Gazetted officer to attest documents?

There is no provision that attestation of documents is duty of a gazetted officer, So you can not force the gazetted officer to attest your documents, moreover for attestation, you have to show your identity proof and proof of authenticity of your documents.

Can a retired Gazetted officer attest documents?

No, as name of a retired gazetted officer no longer reflects in the Gazette of India or any other state Gazette. Gazetted officer can attest copy till his retirement.
